Each year our family takes a break from our normal creativity to focus our efforts on pumpkin carving. This year I decided to give a tribute to a very special couple who were married this past weekend.
This is Travis Oberg and Shannon Varis Oberg from one of their wedding pictures. Congrats to them both and I hope they appreciate my tribute to their marriage and their future.

UPGRADE - I have been making this holster, or similar designs, for a while now. Recently, I was requested to make a replica of the
Uncharted 3 holster design. After finding reference images from
RPF, I started out to get as close as I could to the original. I must give much props to
The Leatherworker, a member of the Replica Prop Forum who is a very accomplished artisan. I found the images in his
Uncharted leatherwork album to be very helpful in my design. I will tell more about the purpose of this holster order in my future posts. I am not at liberty to discuss any details at this time.
You can see the progress on my skill and design by comparing the slideshow to the image of my first holster on the right. We've come a long way baby.
My latest project is a custom pair of gloves. They are inspired from the video game
Metro: Last Light. These images were taken from a game demo video, watch the
Game Demo.
This game was featured at the
E3 Expo in Los Angeles, CA. It was nominated several times and received five awards. Read
more about Metro: Last Light at E3.
I am custom designing these gloves as a request from my Etsy shop
Increditastic. The buyer wants a cool pair of gloves for casual attire and also for shooting. Needing something that can be worn all year, the final design will have light insulation for comfort in both warm and cool weather.
Since the buyer is far away, we agreed on a mutually available pair of gloves as a prototype and for sizing reference. So, today I picked up the leather from
Tandy Leather and the gloves from
Home Depot.
After I finish an order for another
Nathan Drake holster, I will start. Can't wait to get started on these. I think the design is great and the challenge of a glove is a real test of skill. Bring it on.
One last pic.
Preparing for Halloween I asked my son what he wanted to be and he didn't know. Our family is not the
Halloween Superstore kind. So, we walked around the toy section of Target. He found a
G.I. Joe mask and said," I want to be a robot." Shortly after we stumbled across a furry gray rug and he wrapped it around himself and said. "I want to be a monster for Halloween. "I reminded him he wanted to be a robot and he said, "I want to be a Monster Robot!" That started it all.
Since then we bought a new Dyson vacuum and so our old vacuum became spare parts. Leftovers like curtain rods, a skateboard helmet, some sunglasses, foam drawer lining and electrical conduit became our building blocks. It is almost finished and it has been fun to allow my son to make all the design decisions along the way. This truly is his costume idea and design.
The wings pictured above are made from foam drawer lining. The curtain rods are connected to cabinet hinges that lock into place when lifted up.
